Thoughts after a month of daily hearts

It has been an interesting journey so far. I'm glad I chose a simple subject (hearts) as it is easy to use in many different medium. Some days I'm unsure what I want to do  and some creations don't necessarily turn out how I had thought but that's ok. I'm learning and trying different things. I love that I don't have to think about a subject, only about the materials I want to use.

My favourite from this week is definitely the mending I did on a summer dress. There was a small hole on the front, right in the middle and I wanted to do something special. I used the fabric from pyjama pants that had seen better days to "patch" the inside, I hand-stitched the heart and then I cut out the top fabric inside the stitching. It's certainly not perfect but it makes me happy.

Prints made from styrofoam etching
Watercolour - wet on wet + salt

Visible mending - patch and stitching

Mixed media on bristol paper

Wreath made from cardstock strips
Small origami heart pocket

Watercolour and pen

Thanks for reading,
Sophie

  1. Cute hearts! Especially like the idea of exploring different media using the same subject. And Love the tshirt! Thanks for the inspiration - have some tees that need mending. 💖
